Every year I receive this question—“Why is Good Friday called ‘Good’?” This and many other questions are answered in this article.

Yesterday, a few people wanted to know about how the date for Easter is determined each year. In 325 AD, the Church Council meeting in Nicaea, decided that Easter would be celebrated the first Sunday after the first full moon occurring on or after the vernal equinox.

May we be reminded of the suffering our Lord endured for each of us on this Good Friday, 2019.

Hello! Welcome to The Pastor’s Study. In this space, I look forward to sharing intriguing thoughts and observations from my Bible study. Look for a variety of posts – my own writing, quotes from other pastors and theologians, charts and graphs to understand the Bible, and research that is related to church life.
I’d love for you to join us at First Baptist Somerset as we worship the Lord together. Each week I present sermons on Sunday morning at both 9:00am and 11:00am and Sunday nights at 6:00pm. Our midweekly prayer meeting is a time of biblical teaching and corporate prayer. First Baptist offers many activities for the family from birth through young adulthood. Our adult ministries are an active and vibrant part of our church family.
